  • At last!!

Well, its been a while since I had any success to report, but its finally arrived! Played a freeroll on BlueSq today, where top 9 (out of about 350) qualified for a $5 qualifier for the Grosvenor UK poker tour. Got through freeroll after being down to 240 chips early on. Then was up against 20 others in the $5 game. With rebuys there was 1 seat to Bolton Super Satellite (worth $105), and a second prize of $85.

Got to heads up with the chip lead, and twice had my opponent all in with the best hand - both times he caught a card to win. Finally lost with AA against his QQ - flop was QJJ. Still can't complain at $85 from nothing a few hours ago.

  • Pokerstars Sunday Million

I normally deposit £80 or so each month into my poker accounts, and then withdraw any winnings back to my bank account, and so far this year I have done ok. As well as being in profit - I qualified for both Betfair/Poker Player Grand Prix, the Betfair CityAM live event, won trips to Champions League final and Ibiza, and then the trip to Goa.

Now I am looking to play in bigger buy-in online tournaments to try and win some decent prize money. So last week I decided to book Monday and friday off work and try to qualify for the Pokerstars Sunday Million event - first prize pays around $180,000! I deposited all my poker funds for December and played solidly Saturday and Sunday, mostly in $2 triple shootouts, and $10 double shootouts. I managed 4th place twice in the double shootouts (2 qualifiers) - the first time going out with KK v 88, the second JJ v AK. Got bored on Saturday night and played a $50 buy-in event, going out with AK v KQ.

Managed to blow my months funds in one weekend!

So its freerolls all the way for the rest of the month :(

  • India here I come...

On 19th November I played in a freeroll at Maharajah Club Poker, sponsored by Inside edge magazine. First prize was a $7500 package to the asian Poker Classic in Goa next March, 2nd-10th paid $111.

After scraping into the money, I hit a miracle run of cards which catapulted me into the chip lead with 4 players left. I ended up heads up with runadrum, a fellow Punters Lounge member. I managed to maintain my chip lead and win the prize package - by far my biggest win to date. The event is being held at the Intercontinental Grand Resort - a beach front hotel which looks fantastic.

Really pleased to see that last Sunday runadrum went one place better in the Poker Player magazine freeroll, so he'll be joining me in Goa. Nice one runadrum!!
